Being a mother brings a huge range of emotions, challenges and joys.
A beautiful little book came across my desk recently which I thought was perfect for Mother’s Day. Mindfulness for Mothers by Rebecca Ryan is an inspiring book of calming mindfulness exercises designed especially for mothers of young children.
Becoming a mother marks a time of change: physically and emotionally. Priorities and routines shift, time becomes scarce, and stress levels rise. Many new mothers find themselves spending their days rushing from one obligation to the next, stressed and feeling a little (or a lot) out of control.
Mindfulness for Mothers is a book to help mothers restore a sense of calm and balance in their lives.
There are four sections in the book:
- Why mothers & mothers-to-be should meditate
- Meditations with your child
- Meditations for time alone
- Create your own meditation practice
I’ve never really tried meditation but this book has step-by-step instructions which I found really easy to understand. I also just love the gorgeous illustrations in this book!
The book takes readers through a range of meditative exercises, from 10-second tension breakers to 30-minute invigorating body awareness routines, to be done either alone or in the company of your child, at home or on the move, and at any time of the day or night.
For each exercise there is a description, benefits, tips and easy to follow instructions.
Both easy to use and beautifully designed with instructional illustrations, this is the perfect gift or self-purchase for new mothers.
