Roola Boola – The Children’s Arts Festival of Fun
The school holidays are fast approaching and if you live in Melbourne and are looking for things to keep the kids amused, this might interest you.
On show from Tuesday 1 to Friday 4 July (10am – 3pm daily) is an entertaining selection of Melbourne’s finest creative talent. Hip-hop, break dance, circus, comedy and even publishing workshops. These events and more ensure there is something for every little personality.
My pick is Dreamer in Space.
Dreamer in Space is a magical black light puppet theatre show. It’s a story about Dreamer who lives in the Aussie outback and has a keen interest in astronomy. Dreamer in Space is full of spaceships, wormholes and the discovery of a new solar system!
If you aren’t sure what black light puppetry is the video below will show you. It’s great, the kids will love it!
Dreamer in Space is for kids aged 4-12 and is on Thursday 3 July, 10am at Chapel off Chapel.
Other highlights on the program this year include:
- Hip Hop Dance – Bellacize teaches kids the basics of hip-hop to popular tunes.
- Le Petit Circus – An acrobatic, hooping, plate spinning, juggling feast for the senses.
- Kids’ Own Publishing – Skilled artists help kids create their own published book.
- Glee Club – Theatre Director Anthony Crowley leads this incredible Glee Club for kids.

June 28, 2014 at 8:13 pmNew planet will be named ‘EEEK’. Conversations would be so much fun:
‘I just came back from EEEK — ‘
‘What?! What’s wrong?!’
‘No, it’s nothing, it’s just EEEK — ‘
Kids would love it.
