Got a new year’s resolution to get healthy?
Well the new Tassal Snacking Range may be worth checking out.
Working five days a week with three kids, life in our house is super busy. Eating a healthy diet is really important to me and my family but with such busy lives it’s often tempting to eat fast, easy and often unhealthy foods.
When I pack my lunch for work, yes those rare times when I’ve been amazingly organised and prepared everything the night before and popped it in the fridge to grab as I rush out the door, I will have either dinner leftovers or some sort of salad. For those of you who have to buy lunch everyday you know it can get pretty pricey so packing lunch is not only convenient but can save you a heap of $$$.
Tassal has just launched its salmon Snacking Range which includes three tasty combinations that provide the perfect solution for a healthy and nutritious meal without resorting to those unhealthy alternatives.
Me (and my kids) have been taste testing the three varieties of the Tassal Snacking Range:
- Salmon & Quinoa
- Salmon & Beans; and
- Salmon & Rice
The Tassal Snacking Range has combined it’s already tasty salmon with some equally tasty and healthy additions. Quinoa which is packed with omega 3, Beans which is full of protein and Rice which gives a fibre boost.
Now before I tell you what I thought of the new Tassal Snacking Range, here’s a few things you may not know about Tassal which I thought were definitely worth a mention.
- Tassal is the only brand supplying 100% Australian grown and canned salmon to major supermarkets. Consumers have peace of mind knowing their salmon is locally (and sustainably) sourced and canned. (I wasn’t aware of this and buying local/Australian made is really important to me, so I was really impressed!).
- Tassal is the only Australian company listed in the 2015 seafoodintelligence.com report, achieving a Corporate, Social and Environmental Responsibility rating of excellent only one of four companies in the top 100 to achieve this level.
Impressive stuff, it’s great to know Tassal is 100% Australian salmon (Tasmanian grown Atlantic Salmon to be precise) and it’s also good to know that it is sustainably sourced and canned.
The Tassal Snacking Range are ready to eat and do not need refrigeration or heating – perfect for my gym bag!
So what did we think….
They come with a fold out fork so no cutlery – no problem. What I found amazing was that apart from the Rice variety they looked almost exactly the same as the picture on the pack. Taste-wise they were all delicious but the Quinoa variety was my favourite (I love quinoa), followed closely by the rice then the beans. That’s if I had to rate them in some kid of order because quite frankly they were all very, very tasty. The kids actually like the bean one the best.
They are quite generous for a snack but (for some people) may be a bit small for a complete lunch. The Tassal Snacking Range is delicious and convenient and is perfect for busy people living busy lives who want healthy options.
I will be stashing a few of these in my draw at work and in my gym bag. It just goes to show that taste doesn’t need to be sacrificed for a quick, healthy snack.
Packed with natural goodness the Tassal Snacking range is available in Coles stores from 26 October 2015. RRP $4.29
