With Valentine’s Day fast approaching now is the time to start penning those love letters.
A survey of more than 1200 Australians has revealed that over 70 per cent have written a love letter which shows that despite modern technology the love letter is still alive and well.
“We conducted the survey in partnership with online dating sites, RSVP and Oasis.com, to investigate how Aussies are communicating with their partners both on and off-line. What we discovered blew us away,” said Ms Barbara Oliver, marketing manager, Pilot Pen Australia.
An overwhelming 80 per cent of survey respondents said they send a Valentine’s Card to that special someone and more than 70 per cent buy their Valentine a present.
There was also some interesting findings regarding what presents people buy.
Flowers are the most popular amongst men (43 per cent) whereas most women (33 per cent) prefer to send their partner a ‘quirky,’ individual gift.
A surprise weekend away is considered the most romantic gift (40 per cent), followed by a candle lit dinner for two (24 per cent). A beautifully hand written love letter (23 per cent) beats sky writing a message of love (7 per cent).
Texting a love message is considered the least romantic at just 3 per cent.
82 per cent said a hand written note or invitation is the most romantic way to receive an invitation to a special date, compared to receiving a text or email invitation.
