Cobs are already known for their popcorn but now they have a new range of Cobs Hip Chips.
There is no denying it, I have eaten way to much over the Christmas and New Year period. It has literally been the season of snacking – chocolate, nuts, chips and dips have all featured in my daily festive feasts. Amongst our snacking was a welcome highlight, the new offering from the company behind Australia’s favourite natural popcorn brand, Cobs Popcorn – Cobs Hip Chips.
Cobs have reinvented the classic potato chip.
Hip Chips are produced using a unique, heat expansion process and are made from potato, rice and corn.
“Many traditional commercial chips are fried in oil, which masks the flavour of the chip and can create an oily texture. Cobs Hip Chips use hi-oleic sunflower oil and heat expansion to create not only a more delicious but healthier chip than most current commercial offerings,” says Cobs co-founder, Ravit Walys.
The new range of Hip Chips pack an intense flavour, my husband actually described it as a ‘Flavour bomb’ (he was very proud of his clever name).
The Cobs Hip Chips range includes three delicious flavour combinations, with further flavours, including a lake-salt one, under development:
Smokey Chipotle And Beetroot: This delicious flavour has the smokey, spicy taste of chipotle, combined with the earthy, sweet taste of beetroot for an American style BBQ combination!
Tomato, Cheese And Olive: With the tang of tomato and olive, mixed with the richness of cheese, this flavour will make you feel as if your sailing away on the Mediterranean!
Sweet Chili And Sour Cream: The creaminess of sour cream combined with the sweetness of chilli, and just a hint of spice, will leave your tastebuds tingling!
My favourite is the Smokey Chipotle and Beetroot flavour – these ones don’t last long in our house once the packet is open!
“At Cobs, we’re known for producing healthy, delicious popcorn, but we also wanted to show the world what else we could do. Hip Chips are gluten free, lighter and crisper than many chips, and absolutely delicious,” says Ravit.
What I loved about these is that I didn’t feel as guilty while enjoying a snack. I know they are still chips but I feel they are a healthier choice as far as chips go. Hip Chips are available in a 90g size and are priced at $3.45 (RRP) and you will find them at independent grocers and specialty retailers. The entire range of Cobs Popcorn flavours can also be purchased online at www.cobs.com.au
Happy snacking!
